This year there has been a growth in the sad practice of dog owners not picking up after their dogs or even worse throwing bags of feces into the drains, gardens and bushes. Besides being a shameful act it causes a fair amount of grief to the park maintenance crew as well as the poor people that step in it.<\/p>\n
I would like to point out that there is a bylaw that penalizes people for not properly disposing of feces; Contary to some peoples beliefs bylaws are en-forcible in the park, even though it is a private park.<\/p>\n
The pertinent bylaw is BL 1310. and is part of Consolidated Bylaw 1465 -(look it up)<\/p>\n
\u201c(3) Any person who contravenes any provision of this By-law is guilty of an offence and is liable upon conviction to the penalties prescribed by the Offence Act, provided that the minimum penalty is not less than FIFTY ($50.00) DOLLARS for the first offence and for each subsequent offence to a minimum penalty of not less than ONE HUNDRED ($100.00) DOLLARS<\/em>.\u201d There may be non residents to the park doing this to a minor degree, we all bear a responsibility to let non residents know that this is a private park, and they cannot walk their dogs in the park. Part of the sign at the entrance to the park is obscured, the part that says private, and there is a growing amount of people accessing the park from Echo Valley Drive and Gade Road, those entrances are unsigned I believe.
